Bowling Green Nationally Recognized for Economic Development for 10th Consecutive Year

Bowling Green has been recognized again as one of the nation’s top areas for attracting corporate facility investment. The ranking is based on the number of projects won, and Bowling Green ranked second in total projects for metros among communities with populations less than 200,000 and ranked fourth in projects per capita. This is the 10th consecutive year for Bowling Green to be ranked as a top tier-2 metropolitan area in the United States.

The ranking evaluates communities on their ability to attract investment based primarily on a 10 factor index using Site Selection publisher Conway Data, Inc’s database of new and expanded project announcements. Four Kentucky locations were selected in the rankings, with Bowling Green as the highest-ranking Kentucky community. Bowling Green is the only Kentucky community ranked for 10 consecutive years.

“Bowling Green’s success in economic development over the last few years has been vital to the growth in South Central Kentucky,” said Chamber President and CEO Ron Bunch. “Economic development is truly a team sport. We have been able to achieve this level of success in our community thanks to the support of our state and local government officials, utility partners and business community. We are grateful for their tremendous partnership and look forward to continued success!”

“Bowling Green continues to be nationally recognized by publications like Site Selection magazine, and we are truly grateful for the recognition that our community is receiving,” said Bowling Green Mayor Todd Alcott. “The success in our region is possible because of the collaboration and forethought of leadership throughout Bowling Green’s Chamber of Commerce, Warren County Fiscal Court and the City of Bowling Green. I want to thank everyone involved, this achievement reflects great credit upon our community, both now and in the future.”

Warren County Judge-Executive Doug Gorman expressed gratitude for the community’s ongoing support that enables their success and recognition such as the ranking by Site Selection. Judge Gorman stated, “The national recognition we receive reflects the exceptional efforts being made throughout our community to enhance the quality of life and opportunities for residents and workers.”

Envision AESC was awarded the CiCi Award for Corporate Investment in recognition of their $2 billion commitment to construct a cutting-edge gigafactory for manufacturing electric vehicle batteries in Bowling Green, which is anticipated to generate 2,000 high-skilled employment opportunities in the area.

Our wonderful community has received recognition from numerous print and online publications in the past including TIME.com, Forbes, National Geographic magazine and Global Trade magazine, which ranked Bowling Green as the second-best city in the United States for manufacturing. Year to date, the Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce has announced its economic development projects in South Central Kentucky, totaling $8.1 million in capital investment creating 36 new jobs in the region.
