Kentucky Kids on the Block Recognized by TVA at Inaugural Nonprofit Mission Award Luncheon

Kentucky Kids on the Block (KyKOB) is one of five nonprofits in the Tennessee Valley Authority’s (TVA) North Region, serving Middle Tennessee and Western Kentucky, to be recognized at the inaugural TVA North Region Nonprofit Mission Award Luncheon.

The KyKOB mission is to provide ongoing education and prevention through puppetry for children and the community at large. The core message in each program is to teach children how to accept differences.

“The partnership between Kids on the Block and TVA resulted in the puppets impacting children that we otherwise would not have been able to reach. Programs were performed in Metcalfe and Cumberland counties. Mental Health, Bullies, and Accepting Differences were the topics and we know the life changing messages made a difference because of TVA’s support,” Executive Director Ashley Reynolds said.

The Mission Award was created to recognize TVA’s nonprofit partners and the shared commitment between both organizations to making the Tennessee Valley region a great place to live, work, and raise a family. Each nonprofit was nominated by a TVA Community Relations team member serving the North Region, based on their contributions to their community.

Each nonprofit received a $5,000 donation and a promotional video featuring their work to assist with fundraising efforts and general awareness of their cause. “TVA and the nonprofit organizations being recognized this year share a commitment to improving our local communities and enhancing the quality of life for residents,” shared Gary Harris, TVA’s Director of Government and Community Relations in the North Region. “The people who invest their time into making this work possible do not always receive the recognition they deserve, and this is an effort to shine the spotlight on them and celebrate their outstanding contributions.”
