VIP Teacher Spotlight: Danielle Bowen

Danielle Bowen is a graduate of Bowling Green High School who returned to her ‘Purples’ roots to teach 1st grade at T.C. Cherry Elementary after completing her studies at Western Kentucky University. Bowen has been at T.C. Cherry for six years now and loves being there. “I am so blessed to be able to come work at T.C. Cherry every day. We are truly a family here,” she says.

Bowen loves getting to work with children every day and making a positive impact on their lives.
Her dedication to teaching shines through, as she was the recipient of the Bowling Green Hot Rods Teacher of the Year.

When she is not teaching, she loves spending time outside, going to the lake and walking her dogs with her husband, Mason.

What has been the most rewarding part of being a teacher?

“The most rewarding part of my job is watching the growth of my students from the beginning of the year to the end of the year. I also love keeping in touch with former students and getting to see the great things they are doing in school and their lives.”

Why did you choose a career in education?

“I chose a career in education because of my love of working with children. I love being able to make a difference in their lives and help them grow and learn new things. I have always loved working with children, but I decided I wanted to be a teacher when I got a job in college at an after school program working in local schools called Community Education. I knew then that I was meant to be a teacher.”

Thank you, Danielle, for helping to level the playing field for students in our community!
